2024 Fall Agriculture Business & Technology Internship Program Successfully Concludes
STEMworks™ celebrated the completion of its 2024 Fall Agriculture Business & Technology Internship Program with a virtual showcase on December 10. Eight high school students from Maui County gained valuable hands-on experience through six-week paid placements, collectively contributing over 1,200 internship hours.
Throughout their internships, students were immersed in various aspects of agricultural operations, gaining practical experience while building professional connections in the industry. The program provided invaluable work-based learning opportunities that help bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world agricultural careers:
“I was taught to transplant seedlings to the soil, install and repair irrigation systems, maintain a greenhouse, and how to make a profit out of what I grow.” – Kyla Vega, Kumu Ola Farms Intern
“I'm excited to contribute to the preservation of Molokai's unique landscapes and cultural heritage, ensuring that future generations can continue to cherish this special place.” - Tamara Kai “Hina” Yamazaki-Gray, Molokai Land Trust Intern
STEMworks™ extends its heartfelt gratitude to the host companies and mentors whose partnership continues to support the next generation of STEM leaders while strengthening Hawaii's agricultural workforce development pipeline.
