Future Medical Professionals Get Hands-On at Health Care Exploration Day
In partnership with the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine's Area Health Education Center (AHEC), STEMworks™ hosted an inspiring Health Care Exploration Day on November 20. The event brought together high school students from the County of Maui to Honolulu for an immersive look into medical education and careers.
Students engaged in hands-on learning through diverse breakout sessions, including CPR training, vital sign assessment, and anatomy studies using virtual reality technology. A highlight of the day included interactive scenarios in the SimTiki Simulation Center, providing students with realistic medical practice experiences. The campus tour and conversations with current medical students from Hawaii and neighboring islands offered valuable insights into the path to becoming a healthcare professional.
