Events > Agriculture Field Day

From sustainable land management to local food production, agriculture is a critical part of Hawaii’s future. STEMworks offers a variety of programs and events to grow students’ interest in ag-related careers.

During previous Ag Field Days, topics included: value-add food production, aquaponics technology, composting, and cattle herd management. Students engage in fun activities, including meeting a dairy goat, making their own juice from local produce, and creating fly catchers using recycled material.

Something I learned from the industry panel was that even if you aren’t from an agricultural background you can still go forth in farming/ranching, irrigation, and even electric.

My favorite part of the day was learning how to grow my project in composting as well as learning about different organizations around the island that are contributing to agricultural health
