Events > Introduce A Girl to Engineering Day

IGED impacted my desire to pursue a career in engineering in an amazing and positive way and I have a greater idea of what I want to do.

Each February, STEMworks™ offers our Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) events for middle school girls. Held in conjunction with National Engineering Week, IGED is organized and hosted by STEMworks™. These day-long events, held on both Maui and Oahu, include Q&A sessions with local women engineers as well as fun, hands-on engineering activities!

IGED was created to:

  • expose girls to the field of engineering

  • encourage participants to pursue engineering and technology careers

  • raise awareness of the contributions engineers make to the community

It is important to provide and develop future leaders through community-based programs such as Women in Technology’s IGED Designed to address planning for Hawaii’s future, IGED engages young women in meaningful events that add to their skill set and inspire them to choose a career in STEM.
