Maui County Healthcare Exploration Day at UH John A Burn's School of Medicine
/This past Friday, November 18, 2022 - our STEMworks team hosted 20 Maui County High School students in partnership with JABSOM Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to a tour at JABSOM.
Our students flew in the early morning with their teacher from Maui, Lana’i, and Moloka’i.
After a tour of JABSOM, our students were able to participate in hands on learning including a Simulation Lab with a real life scenario, practiced taking vital signs, and an arm casting practice. Our students were also exposed to 5 different Industry Professionals including: Dr. Tom of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Wee a Pediatrician, Jesse Thompson doing 3D Printing in the Healthcare field, Dr. Mashima from Speech Pathology, and Devon Cataldi of the UH JABSOM Cancer center research.
Mahalo to all who made this day a success, our friends at JABSOM AHEC, the food service staff at Pura Sina (at JABSOM), and the teachers who came along with their students. We hope to host future Healthcare Exploration Days.
